Mark Spanbroek

Chairman FIA European Principal Traders Association (EPTA)

Mark is the Chairman of the FIA European Principal Traders Association, previously serving as Acting Chairman and Secretary General. He is a member of the Executive Committee, and also a member of the FIA Board of Directors. He retired from his day to day activities at Getco in 2011, after serving for nine years as a partner and as the Head of Business Development and Market Structure at Getco Europe Ltd. and Getco LLC. His role included setting up Getco in Europe as well as educating exchanges, platforms, and regulators globally of changes in technology, improvement of the post-trade arena, and other critical infrastructure components. He was also one of the main initiators behind the launch of CHI-X Europe and post trade improvements such as interoperability. Mark remained a partner with Getco Holding LLC until 2013, when they acquired Knight Capital and became Knight Capital Group Inc.. Mark is Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Transtrend BV and is a non-executive member of the Board of Aquis Exchange PLC. Until recently, he also chaired CME Europe Ltd., and he is a former member of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange Council.
