Tom Van Riper

Tom Van Riper is the Chief Operating Officer of Cubist Systematic Strategies (Cubist), which is an affiliate of Point72 Asset Management, a global asset management company headquartered in the United States. Tom joined what is now called Cubist in October 2009 and has over two decades of experience in trading and technology encompassing market data, trading systems, execution algorithms, program trading, and relationship management. Before joining Cubist, Tom was the Chief Operating Officer of start-up hedge fund Trace River Capital from 2006 to 2009. From 2005 to 2006, Tom was the Chief Operating Officer of Neovest, an execution technology broker, which was acquired by JP Morgan in 2005. From 2002 to 2004, Tom was also the President of Vector Partners, an algorithmic trading broker, acquired by Bank of America in 2003. Prior to Vector Partners, Tom was the Global Head of Sales & Account Management for Instinet in 2001 and, previously, a Managing Director on Bear Stearns’ program trading desk.
